Day to Day Schedule

Written Attendance Policy

VLA follows an A Day/B Day calendar that puts us on a daily block schedule. 

• Homeroom starts at 8:30 every day.

• Students log into class at the start time.

• Blocks are 80 minutes long BUT teachers have live instruction for the first 40/45 minutes. The last part of class is for extra help, tutoring, working independently or taking a break.

• Blocks start at:

  1. 9:00 am

  2. 10:30 am

  3. 12:30 pm

  4. 2:00 pm

Students must participate in EACH of their classes DAILY in order to be marked “present/participating” for each class.  

Daily participation in each class is defined by EITHER

  1. Presence and participation in the live Google Meet lesson for that class period

     OR

  2. Progress on AND/OR completion of the daily class formative, task, or check-in (teacher discretion) before or during the teacher's class period

If you do not attend the live Google Meet for a class, you must have made progress on or completed the daily class formative, task, or check-in (teacher discretion) by the end of that teacher’s class period in order to be marked “participating” for that class for that day. 

If the daily task for a class is a proctored quiz/test, and you cannot attend Google Meet, your “participation” for the day of the test will be determined by your contacting the teacher before or during the class period of the test to schedule a new time to take the quiz/test.

To have an absence “excused,” the PARENT should email an excuse note to Ms.Martinez (adilene.martinezgarza@fayette.kyschools.us). If no parent note is submitted to Ms. Martinez, the absence will be considered “unexcused.”

If a TEACHER is absent and cannot have a live Google Meet that day, the teacher will post the requirements for attendance on Canvas on or before 8:30 the day of their absence, and students must complete the required task for attendance before or during that teacher’s class period.
