Donte Tichenor has been selected as the next principal for the Success Academy. With more than 15 years of experience in education and service to Fayette County Public Schools, Tichenor has served as principal at Booker T. Washington Elementary since 2020. He will begin his new role on July 1.

"Donte’s exceptional leadership at Booker T. Washington Elementary, marked by his adept implementation of curriculum enhancements and instructional programs, resulted in tangible student achievement,” said Superintendent Demetrus Liggins. “His visionary approach makes him the ideal candidate to lead Success Academy forward into a future defined by innovation, opportunity, and academic success.”

Tichenor joined FCPS in 2009 and served in various roles including substitute teacher, paraeducator, and social studies teacher at Lexington Traditional Magnet School. Before becoming principal at Booker T. Washington, he held various leadership roles including academy principal and administrative dean for Bryan Station High School, where he was also selected to lead the Information Technology Academy. Formerly, Tichenor served as dean of students and behavior coach and interventionist at The Learning Center.
